Each summer our Teen Thespians program produces a show for Young audiences. This summer's "Little Shop of Horrors" gives teens a taste of what it's like to be a professional performer as they entertain student groups from across the city. Stunning sets and costumes are created in our teen internship program.

A down-and out skid row floral assistant becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon "Audrey II" grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite, finally revealing itself to be an alien creature poised for global domination! ]]> Cool Music Mondays (FREE!) For over 30 years, Johnny Winter has been a guitar hero without equal. Signing to Columbia records in 1969, Johnny immediately laid out the blueprint for his fresh take on classic blues ? a prime combination for the legions of fans just discovering the blues via the likes of Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton. Constantly shifting between simple country blues in the vein of Robert Johnson, to all-out electric slide guitar blues-rock, - Johnny has always been one of the most respected singers and guitar players in rock and the clear link between British blues-rock and American Southern rock (a la the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd.) Throughout the '70s and '80s, Johnny was the unofficial torch-bearer for the blues, championing and aiding the careers of his idols like Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker. His recent Grammy nominated ?I'm A Bluesman? disc Virgin/EMI, has only added to his Texas-sized reputation. Rock And Roll, Hoochie Koo, Johnny B. Goode, I'm Yours And I'm Hers and Highway 61 Revisited are just some of his greatest hits.

Open to poets, musicians, vocalists, dancers, rap artists, stand-up comedians, and talents that defy description, our open mic is a chance to show off your special skills.  Concessions will be available for purchase for $1.  We provide one microphone, an amp, and a piano (accompanist not provided).  You provide the talent!  Participants receive a 5-minute time slot.  Outstanding participants may be asked to return as a “headliner” with a 10-minute performance.
